Tolt markets itself as the modern alternative to Rewardful, and Rewardful is the name every Tolt shopper is measuring against, so this is the most natural head-to-head in the category. Both are flat-subscription affiliate trackers built for Stripe SaaS, both start tracking from a cookie, and they sit $20 apart on the entry plan. This page is the version you would send a friend: the checked numbers, the trade-offs each vendor's marketing leaves out, a verdict per criterion, and the one option neither of them mentions.

Info

Disclosure: we make Affitor, which competes with both products. Affitor gets one clearly marked section near the end of this page and one column in the summary table. Everything else comes from Tolt's and Rewardful's own pricing pages, docs, and help centers, checked in October 2026. Prices drift, so check the live pages before you buy.

Quick answer: Tolt or Rewardful?

Rewardful is the better pick for most Stripe SaaS starting an affiliate program in 2026: it costs $20 less at entry, states a 0% transaction fee, and lets you hand payouts to it on any plan through Managed Payouts. Pick Tolt when payouts and program count decide it: auto payouts to PayPal, Wise, local bank, crypto, or wire from the $99 plan, 2 programs on the entry plan, and a third more revenue headroom at $99. Both publish an API. If you want to skip the subscription entirely, Affitor charges $0 until a program has made $10,000 through affiliates.

Tolt vs Rewardful pricing: $20 apart at the door, different math at $99

Both products sell a flat monthly subscription metered by affiliate revenue: the revenue your affiliates generate each month, not your total revenue. The ladders look similar from a distance; the differences live in the caps and the fine print.

Tolt prices like this (per tolt.com/pricing, checked October 2026):

PlanPriceAffiliate revenue capProgramsPayouts
Basic$69/mo$10,000/mo2Manual
Growth$99/mo$20,000/mo5Automated, 2% processing fee
Pro$199/mo$50,000/moUnlimitedAutomated, 2% processing fee
EnterpriseCustom$50,001+/moUnlimitedAutomated, 2% processing fee

Affiliates and referrals are unlimited on every plan. The trial is 14 days with no credit card required, and there is a 30-day refund policy. There is no $0 plan.

Rewardful uses the familiar three rungs (per rewardful.com/pricing, checked October 2026):

PlanPriceAffiliate revenue capNotable limits and unlocks
Starter$49/mo$7,500/mo1 campaign, up to 2 team members
Growth$99/mo$15,000/moUnlimited campaigns and team, branded portal, custom domain
Enterprise$149+/moUp to $30,000/mo on the entry tierPhone support, one-click PayPal payouts

Rewardful states a 0% transaction fee on every plan, plainly, on the pricing page. Affiliates are unlimited on every plan. There is a 14-day trial (the page does not say whether a card is required, so we will not claim it either way), annual billing gives 12 months for the price of 10, and there is no $0 plan. The REST API is included on every plan.

Now the head-to-head math. On the entry rung, Rewardful is $20 less in absolute terms; Tolt answers with a higher revenue cap ($10,000/mo against $7,500/mo) and 2 programs and 3 team members where Rewardful's Starter allows 1 campaign and 2 team members. At the $99 rung, the value flips direction: Tolt's Growth caps at $20,000/mo where Rewardful's caps at $15,000/mo, a third more headroom for the same money.

Then there is the fee print. Both say 0%, and both charge if you want the tool to pay partners for you. Tolt's auto payouts carry a 2% processing fee and start on Growth; Basic payouts are manual. Rewardful's optional Managed Payouts carry a 3% processing fee and are available on every plan. Without them, you send the money yourself: Rewardful lists PayPal mass payouts and Wise bulk payouts on every plan, and Tolt's FAQ says you can pay affiliates with PayPal or Wise.

And note that both ladders meter success: the better your affiliates perform, the sooner you cross a cap and get the upgrade email, whether or not your margins moved. If you want the cost picture across the whole category, the affiliate software pricing comparison lays out the plans side by side.

Verdict: Rewardful leads on pricing, narrowly. A $20-lower floor and 12 months for the price of 10 on annual billing. But if you expect to live at the $99 plan, Tolt's extra $5,000/month of headroom is the better buy, and its payout automation costs 2% against Rewardful's 3%.

This criterion is closer to a tie than either vendor's positioning suggests.

Rewardful uses a cookie with a 60-day default window you can change per campaign, and lets you choose first-touch or last-touch credit. That choice matters more than it sounds: first-touch pays the affiliate whose link the buyer clicked first, which protects reviewers and content sites; last-touch pays the most recent click, which favors whoever touched the buyer on the way to checkout.

Tolt also starts from a cookie. Per its JavaScript docs, a visit through a partner link stores the click with a cookie duration, and a signup call turns that click into a lead tied to your customer's email or ID.

For the common case, one browser, one device, a conversion inside the window, both systems work fine. The shared weakness is that the cookie step breaks on cookie loss, and the failure is silent. The buyer switches from laptop to phone, clears cookies, runs a blocker, or converts after the window closes; the affiliate loses credit, and no dashboard shows you the miss. Neither vendor is worse than the other here on the public record, so do not let a compare page convince you tracking is the reason to switch between these two.

Verdict: a tie. Both start from a cookie with the same silent failure mode; attribution is not the reason to pick either.

API and integrations: both ship an API

Rewardful includes its REST API on every plan, including the $49 Starter. It is a Premier Stripe Partner, setup is two scripts or a one-click integration, and its billing connections are Stripe and Paddle Classic; its help center says it does not support Paddle Billing.

Tolt documents a REST API for partners, customers, links, clicks, commissions, and transactions, plus webhooks. It integrates with Stripe, Paddle (its help center covers both Paddle Billing and Paddle Classic), and Chargebee. The July 2026 version of this page said no API was surfaced on Tolt's pricing page; Tolt's docs show one.

Worth knowing if you automate with AI agents: Tolt has an MCP connection to Claude, while Rewardful's MCP server covers its developer documentation.

Verdict: Tolt leads narrowly on integrations. Both publish an API; Tolt adds Chargebee and Paddle Billing and a live MCP connection for agents. If you bill through Stripe, this criterion is close to a tie.

Payouts and program limits: global rails vs managed payouts

Tolt pays affiliates through PayPal, Wise, local bank transfer, crypto, or wire, with auto payouts from the $99 Growth plan up (that automation is where the 2% processing fee applies). Growth also collects W-9/W-8 forms and files 1099s. Affiliates and referrals are unlimited on every plan, and the ladder scales from 2 programs on Basic to 5 on Growth to unlimited on Pro, which also adds a dedicated Slack channel.

Rewardful keeps this surface smaller but opens it earlier. PayPal mass payouts and Wise bulk payouts are on every plan, and optional Managed Payouts, where Rewardful collects tax info, distributes funds, and handles compliance, are available on every plan at 3%. One-click PayPal payouts are on Enterprise. On the program side, Starter allows 1 campaign and up to 2 team members at $49.

For a program with more than a handful of affiliates, payout mechanics are not cosmetic. Someone has to send the money every month, and doing it by hand across PayPal and bank transfers is exactly the kind of chore that stops happening by month three. If your partners are international, Tolt's auto payouts cover local bank, crypto, and wire as well as PayPal and Wise.

Verdict: Tolt leads on payouts and program limits. Five payout rails with automation from $99 at 2%, tax forms and 1099 filing from Growth, and more programs per plan. Rewardful's Managed Payouts are the simpler hands-off option on its $49 plan, at 3%.

When to choose Tolt over Rewardful

  • Your affiliates are global and you refuse to run payouts by hand. Auto payouts to PayPal, Wise, local bank, crypto, or wire from $99/mo, at 2%, is the clearest payout advantage Tolt has.
  • You expect to live at the $99 plan. $20,000/mo of affiliate-revenue headroom against Rewardful's $15,000/mo means your affiliates can grow a third further before the next upgrade email.
  • You want more than one program on the entry plan. Tolt Basic allows 2 programs and 3 team members, against Rewardful Starter's 1 campaign and 2 team members.
  • You want an exit ramp. A 14-day no-card trial plus a 30-day refund is the friendlier try-it policy of the two; Rewardful's page offers 14 days and stays silent on the card.

If Tolt is winning this comparison for you but you still want to see the field, the best Tolt alternatives for SaaS compares five tools against it.

When to choose Rewardful over Tolt

  • You want the lower flat price with an API. $49/mo with the REST API included is the lower entry point of the two.
  • You want the tool to pay affiliates for you on the entry plan. Rewardful's Managed Payouts are available on every plan (3%), where Tolt's auto payouts start at $99.
  • You bill through Stripe and want a Premier Stripe Partner integration. Setup is two scripts or a one-click integration.
  • You plan to pay annually. 12 months for the price of 10 takes Growth from $1,188 to $990 a year; Tolt's pricing page shows monthly prices.

If Rewardful is winning but you want to stress-test it, the best Rewardful alternatives for SaaS puts it against its strongest challengers, and the compare hub lists every head-to-head we have published.

The option neither compare page mentions

Affitor's Partners view: every partner, application, and invite in one table with live stats

Tolt positions itself against Rewardful, and Rewardful is the incumbent everyone measures against, but neither vendor's marketing mentions Affitor, so here is that section, written under the same rules as everything above.

Affitor drops the subscription entirely. It costs $0/mo with no setup fee: you pay $0 on the first $10,000 of affiliate revenue per program, then 3.5% of the sales affiliates drove (affitor.com/pricing, checked Oct 2026). There is no tier ladder to outgrow because there are no tiers, and no revenue cap that turns your affiliates' good month into your upgrade email.

Attribution works differently after signup. Tracking starts with a first-party click cookie, and the partner whose click creates the customer keeps that customer. The customer key you send at signup then rides the Stripe Checkout Session and subscription metadata as affitor_customer_key, so later payments are matched to the customer rather than to the cookie. The attribution window is set per program, 60 days by default, and is checked once, at the first attributed payment: the click must be no older than the window at signup (or at that payment, if there was no signup). Renewals of an attributed customer are not re-checked. The chain is documented in how Affitor tracking fits together.

And the integration is agent-verifiable, shipped and live today: a skill.md runbook an AI agent can follow end to end, an affitor CLI whose onboard command fires a test click, lead, and sale and reports integration_verified, and an MCP server in beta. The full Stripe wiring is walked step by step in How to create a Stripe affiliate program. Every live program is listed on the Affitor marketplace, and the Affitor team helps you recruit, onboard, and train partners (affitor.com/join).

Now the trade-offs, because this page promised them:

  • Affitor reads Stripe natively. If you bill through Paddle, both tools above connect to it natively; Affitor takes it through its API or SDK.
  • Percentage fees grow with volume. A flat subscription stays flat until its cap; a percentage grows with your affiliate revenue. Paying $0 until the program works suits a new program that might earn nothing; for a large, predictable program, price your own volume on each pricing page before choosing.
  • Payouts by bank or Wise. Affitor partners withdraw by bank transfer or Wise; Tolt's auto payouts also cover PayPal, local bank, crypto, and wire.

FAQ

Is Tolt cheaper than Rewardful?

Not on the entry plan: Tolt starts at $69/month against Rewardful's $49/month (checked October 2026). At the $99 plan the math flips: Tolt caps you at $20,000/month in affiliate revenue where Rewardful caps at $15,000/month, so Tolt gives a third more headroom for the same price. If you want the tool to pay affiliates for you, Tolt's auto payouts cost 2% and Rewardful's Managed Payouts cost 3%.

Does Tolt charge transaction fees?

Tolt markets 0% commission, with one nuance: auto payouts carry a 2% processing fee, and the $69/month Basic plan avoids that fee because its payouts are manual (per tolt.com/pricing, checked October 2026). Rewardful states a 0% transaction fee on every plan; its optional Managed Payouts cost 3% of payouts.

Which is better for a Stripe SaaS, Tolt or Rewardful?

Rewardful is the better pick for most Stripe SaaS starting an affiliate program: it costs $20 less at entry, states a 0% transaction fee, and offers Managed Payouts on every plan. Tolt wins once payouts and program count decide it: auto payouts to PayPal, Wise, local bank, crypto, or wire from $99, 2 programs on the entry plan, and more revenue headroom at $99.

Does Tolt have an API?

Yes. Tolt documents a REST API for managing your partnership program at docs.tolt.com, and an MCP connection that links Tolt to Claude (checked October 2026). Rewardful includes its REST API on every plan, and its MCP server covers its developer docs. The July 2026 version of this page said Tolt surfaced no API; Tolt's own docs show one.

Is there an alternative to both Tolt and Rewardful?

Affitor drops the subscription both of them charge: $0 on the first $10,000 of affiliate revenue per program, then 3.5% of affiliate-driven sales. Tracking starts with a click cookie, then the customer key you send at signup carries attribution to later payments, so renewals do not depend on the cookie.

How do Tolt and Rewardful track referrals?

Both start from a cookie. Rewardful's default cookie window is 60 days, changeable per campaign, with first- or last-touch credit. Tolt's JavaScript stores the partner click with a cookie duration and offers a signup call that turns the click into a lead tied to your customer's email or ID. Any cookie-based step shares the same blind spot: when the cookie is cleared, blocked, or the buyer switches devices before it is used, the affiliate can silently lose credit.

What's next

If you are choosing between the two names in the title, take both 14-day trials, wire up one real affiliate link in each, and watch two things: which dashboard your team actually opens in week two, and how each handles your first real payout run. The payout rails, the program limits, and the $99-plan caps will make the decision faster than any comparison page.

If the $0-until-it-works model fits where your program is today, create your program on Affitor or read how the performance pricing model works.
